A Patient Care Director is a Master’s Prepared Clinical Nurse Manager.

 

The Patient Care Director assumes front line responsibility and accountability for managing the delivery of patient care and is responsible for the total management of a designated unit, which includes setting goals and objectives in accordance with the organizational strategic initiatives, and for planning, organizing, directing, and monitoring unit activities on a twenty-four (24) hour basis.

 

The Director is fiscally responsible for the unit, facilitating efficient and cost effective daily operations. Coordinates and evaluates the effectiveness of staff, unit performance, and system operations. Implements unit’s strategic plan relevant to initiatives, while continuing to develop professional and support staff in establishing an environment where staff and patients are able to reach their full potential.

 

Master’s Degree required.  Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience required.

 

Unit Information:

20 + Beds, 3+ Isolation Units

40% admits are transfers

Self-sufficient nurses stations in each room

High patient satisfaction

24-hour visitation for parents

Parents attend rounds

Young, vibrant staff

Very challenging ICU in entire hospital – needs to know how to access a 2, 10 and 18 year old,
Must have Ability to effectively handle child abuse cases and burn cases

Very acute patient population – Everything except cardiac transplants
