Director of Throughput and Patient Flow

| In this new position the Director will provide leadership and strategic direction for capacity management, throughput initiatives, and outcomes for all inpatient bed assignments for admissions (direct, hospital transfers, emergency department, and post anesthesia care) and internal transfers by placing the patient in the right level of care, on the right floor, at the right time, to receive the right care while collaborating with internal and external physicians as well as transfers out for a400 bed hospital part of an integrated healthcare system now the largest, rural, not-for-profit healthcare system in the nation with a presence in 111 communities in eight states |
| Education, Experience and Skills Requirements
Bachelors’ degree in Nursing required; must have Master’s degree in Nursing/Business or in progress of obtaining. Completion required within 3 years of accepting position; at least three years of nursing management experience, preferably in a critical care or emergency setting. Experience in utilization/case management preferred. Must have knowledge of clinical practices, strategic planning, administrative, and financial principles. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential. |

- Directs the Medical Center One Call function staff and program to support strong relationships with the region while managing bed capacity for surgical and emergency room volume.
- Directs the planning and allocation of resources from the float team and transport teams to assure competent patient care.
- Manages complex throughput challenges through collaboration with all departments, employees, and physicians.
- Assures off shift, weekend, and holiday leadership through a team of house supervisors with clear expectations and boundaries.
- Collaborates with Case Management and Social Work to anticipate and provide resource management for the entire organization based on capacity capabilities.
